Northside Independent School District awarded a small San Antonio-based company the contract to provide professional pest-management services for all schools.

Northside, the largest school district in San Antonio, has 115 elementary, middle and high schools that collectively serve more than 100,000 students. Pest Shield San Antonio President Dominick Alongi would not disclose the financial terms of the contract, but the contract is in the six-figure range.

Northside approved the contract for one year and the district has the option of renewing the contract for an additional four years.

Pest Shield has 50 employees, has been in business for 15 years and is small-business certified. The company has contracts with other school districts but not as large as Northside.
