MUM told her anxious little girl that real beauty comes from within but as she grew older the little girl wanted those little extras … just a little bit more please.

Beauty now is still the face reflected in your mirror but perhaps aided by a little touch-up work from your beautician.

Now in Mackay it can be created by the deft touch of your cosmetic tattooist.

Natalie Hempel owns Cozmetic Ink and, after training on the Gold Coast with professional cosmetic tattooist Ella Boffa, is set to create her own niche market in Mackay.

“I have a strong clinical and medical interest and this work complements what I do in tattoo removal,” she said.

“Women live busy lifestyles in Mackay too and it takes time to apply makeup.”

Part of this is vanity but women always want to look their best in what is a competitive world.

“Now they can look their best 24/7 and don’t have to daily apply full make-up,” she said.

“Mackay women like being healthy and exercise and now they can go to the gym, play sport because cosmetic make-up will not run.”

Ms Hempel does fine skin needling to work on eyebrows, apply permanent eye-liner and to tone lips.

There is also demand for beauty spots – a look reborn by one of the original glamazon supermodels, Cindy Crawford, and now worn by other celebrities.

Ms Hempel said some Mackay women had work done during a Thailand holiday. Eyebrow work is the most popular and can involve “hair strokes,” tattooing what look to be actual hairs onto the skin, or eyebrow shading.

Ms Hempel also runs Tattxtract where she sensitively removes unwanted body tattoos.
