PITTSBURGH, March 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Many Ivy League colleges sent acceptance letters this week, gluing Ivy-hopeful high school seniors to their computers, frantically refreshing inboxes awaiting news. So how do students receiving bad news re-evaluate their top choices?
Niche, one of the nation’s leading content providers, today released the Top 25 Ivy League Competitors ranking to help those interested in looking beyond the Ivies navigate their college decision. The ranking and infographic can be found here.
Stanford, Duke, Georgetown, NYU and MIT comprised the top five spots, with colleges such as Northwestern and Carnegie Mellon also making appearances. The findings show interest among top-tier students is evenly distributed across top-tier colleges, revealing the competition for the best and the brightest students is not limited to the Ivy League.
The methodology to determine the Top 25 Ivy League Competitors ranking consisted of several elements. Niche surveyed 1,370 users currently enrolled in an Ivy League college to learn what other colleges they considered when using Niche to search for a college. The list reveals the top 25 non-Ivy colleges that students were most frequently interested in. All 25 colleges were considered by at least five percent of Ivy League Niche users, with Stanford coming out on top, considered by 24 percent of Ivy League Niche users.
Alongside the Top 25 Ivy League Competitors ranking, Niche today also released the Top Safety Schools by State ranking.
